As teachers we know that students possess unique learning styles, usually more than one. Sometimes, it can be hard to reach a student’s preferred learning style. It can be even harder to reach ALL students’ preferred learning styles. So, using Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, I have created word work activities that give students options and the freedom to learn and practice with their preferred learning style. I have differentiated the activities based on four of the Intelligences: “Art Smart,” “Body Smart,” “Word Smart,” and “Number/Logic Smart.” I have created four different sets of recording sheets based on the mentioned “Smarts” and within each of those sets of recording sheets are 5 tasks that are even further differentiated based on level of difficulty. These worksheets can be used in many different ways and with ANY word list. There are 20 total task cards and 20 total recording sheets to go with each task.
A Few Tips for Use:
-Use the EDITABLE word cards to create words for students to practice
-Print worksheets as options for centers or just to use as assignments
-Print the Activity Task Cards/Posters and hang them above the worksheets or attach them to bins/folders that each worksheet is in
