PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

In this multi-part file, students apply what they know about basic derivative rules (sum/difference, constant multiple, product, quotient, and chain) numerically and graphically.

Part 1 (half-sheet, front-to-back): Students write an expression for the derivative of certain functions and state what rule they applied. For example: the derivative of f(2x) is 2f'(2x), which is an application of the chain rule.

Part 2 (one page): Students use a table of values for f f' g and g' to find the derivative of new functions at certain points and apply this to tangent lines.

Part 3 (one page): Students use a graph of f and g to find the derivative of new functions at certain points and apply this to tangent lines.

An answer key is included.
