Have student take notes in their interactive notebook while conducting this lab. Materials listed should be set out on a table before the start of the lesson so students can gather what they need independently.
Once facilitator gets to STEP #1, students are told that in order for the next slide to be shown all students must come back to their work stations and seated (this is the ready signal). Upon concluding the procedures on Day 1 students will sketch and fill in the data table provided utilizing information regarding the observations they made throughout the lab. Questions posed at the end of the PowerPoint should guide class discussion on cellular transport, tonicity, diffusion and osmosis.
Students are to wait 24 hours and then return to their lab set up to observe evidence of change that could of occurred; again, making way for class discussion and in-depth dialogue.
