This game is simple to play and a great way to strengthen simple addition & base-ten counting skills as well as creative thinking, spatial development, and strategic planning! It’s a classic dice-addition game crossed with the strategy game BLOKUS and a little bit of TETRIS.
Great for math centers, Math Daily 3, partner work, family math nights or as a homework game! Just print & play!
Your task is to give your dog the best chance of digging up three buried bones.
To begin, each player chooses their own color. On your turn, roll two dice and add up the total number of dots. Use a marker or crayon to color in “connected squares” that equal the number you rolled— this is now part of your dog’s “territory.” Choose your “territory” wisely. You may color the squares in any arrangement or orientation you’d like-- however the squares MUST be connected to each other.
Players take turns rolling & coloring until they can no longer find enough “connected squares” to color in their dice total.
At this point, the gameplay ends. Now it’s time to determine where the three bones are buried... and who will dig them up! Spin each spinner & add the “tens” and “ones” together to get the “winning number.” Whichever player colored this number is the winner! Spin & add twice more to determine the other two “winning numbers!”
Happy adding & digging!
