PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This is a digestion system lab I created consisting of seven different stations. Students travel in pairs of small groups (I would suggest no larger than 4) to each of the labs where they are able to examine different components of the digestive system, including:

- How amylase (and enzymes in general) work
- How substrates and enzymes are specific on one another
- How the muscles of the stomach work to breakdown food
- What chemicals are found in the food that assist in digestion
- How pH plays affects digestion
- What an antacid is and how it works with the digestive system
- What a buffer is and how it works with the digestive system
- How the physical structures that make up the small intestine work
- How the length(s) of the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestines, and large intestine (colon) aid in digestion

I give my students two days to complete this activity and it is always well received! This lab is in a "WORD" format so that stations can be deleted if they do not fit your curriculum. I have also included a materials list to make setting the lab up easier!
