This is the 3rd of 5 units in Digging Reading, a classroom curriculum for teaching reading comprehension strategies.
Unit 3: Questioning and Predicting
Questioning is at the heart of reading and learning. And, Predicting is often a natural outcome of questioning. These two strategies are the focus of the 12 lessons in Unit 3. Students learn to read with questions in mind, gathering text clues in order to form answers. They also make predictions about what they are going to read and note whether their predictions are correct as they read on.
Students learn the reading strategies through activities and interactive reading of the trade book Frindle by Andrew Clements. All materials are provided except the trade book.
