Your class will LOVE these hands on literacy centers. Let your students become paleontologists as they dig for beginning sound "bones" to connect to their -ing ending "bones" to create new words.
This set includes 5 centers. Please note that it does take a little prep work to get the full effect of this center. I used shallow tin pans, uncooked grits, goggles, and tweezers to make the word work centers really come to life as a site for digging for dinosaur bones.
Word Work: Students will work as paleontologists to dig for beginning sound "bones" to add to the -ing ending "bones". Recording sheet included.
Word Work: Students will work as paleontologists to dig for sight words that you chose. Recording sheet included.
Sight Word Book: Using your choice of sight words, students can make their own sight word book. There is space to write the word, use the word to write two different sentences, and an illustration.
Response to Literature: After listening to a story or reading one on their own, students can write about and illustrate their favorite part.
Games: Small group BINGO.
