This is a fun, hands on activity/learning center that can be used to introduce Digi Blocks and teen numbers, practice strengthening problem solving and counting skills all WHILE practicing sight word recognition! WINNING!
Students can glue this simple recording page in their math journals so it can easily be worked on for several days.
*I printed the sight words on construction paper or cardstock and laminated them for durability.
After introducing and allowing some time for exploration, students should have a basic understanding of the size of Digi Blocks. First, they should use that knowledge to predict how many Digi Blocks it will take to cover the entire sight word. Next, they should use the Digi's to cover the sight word.
**This is a good way for students to work on problem solving as well-- How will they arrange the Digi Blocks in order to completely cover the sight word?
Finally, they should count the number of Digi's it took to cover the entire sight word and record that in the last column.
