If your district blocks Google links that have a shared setting of "anyone with a link," here is a No PREP Digital Breakout Escape Room (Google Forms) - Independence Day - No Google account is needed.

**Please be sure that your IT does not block Google Links that have a shared setting of "anyone with a link" if you plan to use this resource.** If this is the case, you will need to make a copy of the clues and insert the new link into the slides. If you need assistance, please reach out to me at shenvalleyveganteacher@gmail.com.

I have included a NO PREP version of Independence Day - Digital Breakout.

The NO PREP version is ready to go, just "make a copy" for each student and then share (Google Classroom works best! If you do not use Google Classroom, you will need to be able to share the link with your students e.g. Seesaw, a class webpage, Wakelet, QR Code, etc...).

Step by Step Directions - Print

Student Google Slides w/ locks

Answer Key and Clues

Number Lock - Students will unscramble each word by placing the correct letter in each cell. Certain letters will change colors, the color letters will spell a sentence. Students will answer the sentence for the clue.

Color Lock - Students will determine the relationship between each set of words.

Direction Lock - Students will solve each problem, then find the matching star.

Word Lock - Students will solve each multiplication problem, then fill in the correct color using the fill format tool.

FAQ:

1. Should I use present mode? No, students need access to the entire slide deck.

2. Where do I find the clues? Students should click on the "Click HERE for the clue," then click on the long BLUE URL. Some clues "force" students to make a copy. This allows them to manipulate the resource. Once the clue is solved, students will need to return to the original slide deck. (Be assured that students catch on quickly)

3. Where do students click "submit?" "Click HERE or Click HERE to unlock the lock," then click on the BLUE URL.

Each slide contains one link to the clue and, one link to the lock. Just share with your students in Google Classroom, ensuring to select "make a copy" for each student.

Please feel free to reach out to me. My students really enjoy using Google Slides to "breakout!" It provides the scaffolding many need to be successful with such tasks as critical thinking, communicating, collaborating, and problem-solving!
