What educators are saying

Great resource for introducing or reviewing the rhythms! I did it both as a full class activity and with students doing it alone on chromebooks in the classroom. Both ways it was great!
My students love this resource as a choice for free time! It is engaging and educational. I highly recommend it.

Description

Are you looking for a fun and interactive way for your students to practice musical concepts? This Digital Escape Room activity is a fun way for virtual students or small groups to apply and practice what they know about Tika-Tika (sixteenth notes). This fun Digital Escape Room has students completing five tasks digitally as they explore a 360 image, then entering answers into a Google Form to escape the room (or in this case, to find their way back home from being lost at sea!)

The tasks included in the Digital Escape Room include:

  • Task 1, Rhythm reading activity: Students watch a YouTube video, then answer a question about the number of sounds in the first pattern
  • Task 2, Watching a performance of “Tideo": Students answer a question about tika-tika in the song
  • Task 3, Rhythm randomizer game: students read 10 8-beat patterns with tika-tika, then answer a question about the number of sounds in tika-tika
  • Task 4, Rhythm identification game: Students play a game in which they listen to a pattern, then identify which pattern it is
  • Task 5, Coding in Scratch: Students code pattern with tika-tika, then answer a question about their coding blocks

Your students will ❤️ love ❤️ completing the tasks in this Digital Escape Room!

❣️"This was the first time my students (and myself) have used an escape room activity. Because of this I made a Screencastify video explaining what to do in detail to help the kids navigate through the different tasks, then I had them take a screenshot of the congrats message at the end and post that to our Google Classroom. It was so fun!!"

❣️"This was a really cool activity!! I used this during distance learning and the kids were engaged the whole entire time!! I can't wait to use this in the classroom!"
