Looking for quick and easy checks for understanding to use in a digital classroom? You found them!
This is a digital adaptation of my top-selling Higher Order Thinking across the Curriculum: Formative Assessment Exit Slips. I've recreated many of the exit slides into an easy to use format and added 10 new options to the mix! Check out the free sample for a detailed listing of what's included and a sample exit slip to try out.
One of my favorite features of the Google Classroom is the ability to link to authentic texts (news articles, primary sources, blog posts, videos) without worrying about printing the articles—saving both copy costs and copyright violations! This feature opens up a whole new world of reading for our students. With 30 exit slips to choose from in this set, you are certain to find one that fits every text in your classroom.
After purchasing this activity, you'll have your own copy of a Google folder containing a .pdf teacher resource and 30 individual Google Slides that can be used for a variety of before-during-after lesson assessments of understanding. Short explanations of each strategy are also included in this teacher resource and instructions for copying/storing the exit slips. (Note: Due to file size limitations, this folder actually contains 29 exit slips, the 30th is available in the free sample download. You can easily move the sample into this folder once you've downloaded it.)
I hope you’ll find, as I have, that students are much more willing to write longer, more thoughtful responses when they can type their answers; you’ll really get a picture of what they’re understanding and what they’re missing with these activities.
All of the exit slips are fully editable—by you before you assign them, or if your students find they need to adapt them as they respond, they can make changes to the document as needed. However, I’ve set them up for easy student-response and teacher grading. Each section that requires student response is set to type in blue font to easily distinguish student writing from the instructions and text on the document. Most instructions are included on the Slide itself, but in some cases, I’ve offered further instruction in the notes below the slide.
