Description

Do you need to improve friendships for a healthy classroom environment? Create a community of kindness and respect when students learn more about their classmates.

Whether you're teaching in person or distance learning, your morning meeting is a great time to use this friendship themed ice-breaker activity to help students connect. It will help shy children who struggle to make friends discover others with things in common and provide opportunities to grow new relationships.

Kids love using the digital spinner to pick a random number and are excited to see the question of the day revealed. There are 14 preloaded questions that give students and teachers insight into the character traits of their classmates.

After you've played, you can replace the used questions in Google Slides™ with any of the 44 suggestions or type in one of your own to start conversations that relate directly to your grade or to address friendship problems.

Extension activities are included for students in 4th, 5th and 6th grade. They will need to listen to gather data and record similarities to determine which students have the most in common with them.

The data can be used to create a questionnaire, in math or writing activities, to plot graphs and charts, or to determine who they may like to have a conversation with to learn more about them.

➡️ TEACHER FEEDBACK
"The kids loved the spinner, waiting to see who would be chosen and what question he/she would get. It really kept them paying attention!" - Karen H, 2nd Grade Teacher
