Digital Interactive Notebook for use with Google Slides or MS OneDrive. Students interact with the notebook online through their own Google Drive accounts. Pages are standard 8.5" by 11".
Notebooks ask students to conduct brief research on Thomas Paine and the historical context of “The Crisis Number One.” Then they are to analyze the text by first using SOAPSTone (Speaker, Occasion, Audience, Purpose, Subject, and Tone). Students are then asked to find and analyze three examples of rhetorical devices used. The activity is able to be completed in 3-6 class periods, depending on whether or not your school follows traditional or block scheduling.
A student glossary of rhetorical devices and teacher’s guide with an example rubric are included.
