Kids love being word detectives and figuring out the secret word. Just like my paper version, kids look at the beginning sound of each picture to figure out what letter it starts with to figure out each secret CVC word. In these interactive game versions, kids drag the letter into the box below the picture to build their word. If they want to change the letter in the box, they simply drag the letter they want to change it to into the box and it automatically changes it for them. They can also hit "Reset" to put all their letters back and start fresh. Once they're finished building each word, they'll press the "Submit" button. If they're correct, a kid holding a "Good Job!" star will appear on the screen and take them to the next secret word to figure out. If it is incorrect, a kid holding a "Try Again!" chalkboard will appear to let them know to rebuild the word. It will bring them back to the screen with the word and letters they chose (it doesn't reset the letters) so they don't have to start over. They can review the letters they chose to try to figure out which letter or letters are incorrect. Being able to check it after knowing it's incorrect helps build valuable skills and also avoids the frustration of having to start over. If they want to start over completely new, they can just hit the "Reset" button to send all the letters back. The game doesn't allow the child to skip any words so it is self-checking and if they finish the set, you know they did them all correctly :)
In the paid version with all the short vowel sounds, differentiated recording sheets and a fun star challenge that rewards students for completing each set is included :) That's here:
