What educators are saying

This was a wonderful resource for my class. I printed in color and laminated the roles as a reference for students remembering their roles. Thank you for this!!!
This is the only way I do lit circle discussions now! I was really struggling with how to do them, and this really helped me and my students be successful! Amazing resource!

Description

Teachers and students love this digital twist on traditional literature circles! Ditch the paper and promote modern collaboration in your lit circles by utilizing these editable Google Slides. This resource will work with ANY book and will help you run your book clubs successfully from start to finish.

Check out the PREVIEW for an up-close look!

Help your students run their novel studies on their own by:

  • Setting the purpose for lit circles,
  • Hosting a fun book tasting event to form groups,
  • Establishing meeting dates,
  • Selecting reading roles,
  • Reflecting weekly on effort, participation, and work completion.

This resource will guide you through the process and will show you how to organize your literature circles from day one, so they run smoothly from start to finish. What’s more? The students will be in charge of much of the work, so you can do the fun work: connecting with kids over books!

What reading roles are included?

  • Discussion Director
  • Character Captain
  • Signpost Scout
  • Travel Tracer
  • Word Wizard
  • The Next Van Gogh
  • Literary Luminary
  • Clever Connector
  • Reliable Researcher

Use the roles you wish, and delete the ones you don't need! It's that simple.

About Using Literature Circles in your ELA Classroom

Through literature circles, students will gain the opportunity to read engaging books with a small community, think critically, and reflect upon what they’ve read. Through their regular book discussions, students will be able to build critical speaking and listening skills and achieve a deeper understanding of what they read.

Why go digital?

Going digital will allow your students to help provide one another with feedback regarding the book or the task! Because they can see one another's work in real-time, they can quickly comment on one another's work to provide help or ideas! It will also allow you to be more active in delivering feedback (no collecting papers). Last but not least, digital literature circles provide quick and easy access to additional resources for research.

Google Drive Note: This purchase will download directly into your Google Drive, but in order to do so, you must grant TpT access to your Google Drive.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Focus on 5th said, “My students love using this resource to guide them in their independent study groups. This has helped keep them focused on their work and give them a guide without me having to constantly check in on them. We do weekly check-ins so that I am able to see the progress.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sara F said, “There were so many options to choose from in regards to how I wanted to setup my literature circles. The job duty options were spot on for my 6th graders. I loved how simple it was to tweak everything and get my books and information added in. Since everything is already in a digital format it was easy to add to my Google Classroom.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ruby J. said, “We absolutely loved this resource! We began using it as a whole class with a book study. Later, students used it in book club groups as well as for their individual independent reading books. I cannot say enough good things about it.  They thought the slides were very engaging. The Signpost Scout was pure genius! The kids and I both felt that the slides really, really helped us understand, engage and discuss the reading.”
