Reading is thinking! We want our students to be able to demonstrate that they are understanding and connecting with what they read. We want them to be able to express their thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
Responding to reading is how we help our students accomplish this. We've had our students write reading responses for years. Response notebooks have been a huge thorn in my side! I love reading their responses, but I can't do that when they forget to bring their notebooks to class or the pages get torn out. Save your sanity and go digital!
This resource is designed to be used with Google. You will assign this to your students using Google Classroom. (Easy to follow, visual directions are provided!) Your students will complete their reading responses daily in Google slides.
Your students will be able to get started quickly with the included response stems. I've included sentence stems that are sorted by reading skill/strategy. You can direct students to use response stems from a particular skill, or you can let your students choose the response stems they use. Use the response stems the way that works best for you. (see product thumbnails for a list of included reading skills/strategies)
Oh yeah, I almost forgot -- EMOJIS! Your students will love this feature! I have provided a variety of emojis your students can use to copy and paste onto their responses to show how they are feeling about what they are reading.
