There are two digital resources included that you can use immediately in your middle school ELA classroom.
These resources were created to use with Google slides.
Digital Activities for Any Story or Novel ~ This resource contains Google Slides activities to accompany any story or novel.
By using Google Slides, students are active learners as they insert their own examples, answers, and pictures as needed. You choose the activities that best fit the story or chapter or novel you are reading, and send out the pages using a Google platform like Google Classroom. These lessons are also PERFECT for literature circles or independent novel studies. Students can complete the activities as a group, as they read the story or novel independently, or as a whole class.
The activities included in this unit are perfect for grades 4-8. Your students will analyze setting, conflict, point of view, theme, the author’s craft and much more! If you are looking for meaningful lessons that are not simply cute and generic but that help you teach Common Core standards, then this unit is for you! Use it with multiple novels and stories for years and years. Everything is ready for you to copy and handout. Some of the slides can be used during reading and others are post-reading activities.
Story Elements for Middle School ELA ~ This digital notebook is specifically for the following story elements: characters, setting, plot, mood, theme, and point of view. Each Google slide is designed to teach these elements and how they work together in a piece of literature.
Some slides have movable pieces that students will drag and drop. Other slides will require students to put in their own picture, take notes on the elements, or make up their own example. There are also passage practice slides where students read a short passage and apply what they have learned about these story elements.
A full answer key is included with complete notes, answers, and examples! In addition, a support document is included that will give you suggestions and/or needed information for using each slide!
