Are you looking for a creative way to integrate reading, writing, and technology? Well look no further! This digital story unit requires students to use Microsoft PowerPoint to create a digital story. Each week students will watch a demonstration lesson (using the PowerPoint lessons provided) and then put the information learned into practice. At the end of the unit students will have an original product to share with parents, classmates, and other classrooms. I have always showcased the students’ stories in a digital story celebration. I also burn their story onto a CD so that students can keep it forever!
In order to complete this unit you will need to have a basic knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint. During each demonstration PowerPoint, you will need to stop at predetermined places and demonstrate the information described to students. You will also need a digital camera to take pictures of students’ original artwork, a computer microphone to narrate and a flash drive to save student work.
