What I LOVE about Using Digital Resources for Teaching:
•Paperless (Hello, cleaner desk!)
•Handwriting is SO much more readable
•When used with a learning management system, I can have access to their work online and not have to lug a bunch of papers home
•They can't glue the expensive magnetic letters to a paper card, but they can save those digital magnetic letters on that card for easier assessing!
•Kids love using technology. It's engaging, phonics activities!
•It is still hands-on like a real word work card with magnetic letters. They still have to slide those letters on that card for developing their phonics skills.
•All the letters are ALREADY organized! No messing with a bunch of letters in smeared, labeled baggies. This makes it so much easier for differentiating your phonics instruction without having to do a thing, except assign the appropriate file to each student! Easy, simple, bam! Now, that is what I am talking about!
What about differentiation? For emerging, I paired letters together such as bl, ay, ow, etc. For intermediate levels, I upped the challenge by only providing individual letters that the students will need to pair together. For students who need even more challenge, they can type a sentence with the word on the slide.

***There are some technical requirements to use this phonics resource. You will need PowerPoint on any devices that will be used with this resource. For guided instruction with either an interactive whiteboard or in a small group, you can easily just use PowerPoint. For optimization, you might want to consider using a learning management system that is online, so you can easily assign students a file and easily receive those files back from students. This is not required to be able to use this resource, but it makes it easier to use the resource if you are wanting to assess their digital work. Many of you will have schools that already have these. Microsoft OneDrive or another cloud storage system are also possibilities. There are work arounds if you don't have any of these though. For one, you could use the resource as a hybrid where students use the recording sheets to record their words and/or sentences, and you skip over assessing their digital work. You could also have them save them on the device and manually check each device. I have suggestions for this method in the resource.***
***For Interactive Whiteboard/ Smartboard use: To use any dragging/dropping features, your interactive whiteboard will need the feature that performs mouse functions with touch in programs outside of their software. Basically, the touch feature takes the place of how you would use a mouse in other applications such as PowerPoint, surfing the internet, etc. If using. This feature that allows the computer to use touch on the screen to function like a mouse may sometimes only work in the software of whatever brand interactive whiteboard you are using, so make sure you can use that feature in other applications before purchase if you plan to use this resource on an interactive whiteboard.***
*****Note, the pdf has links to 8 zip files because this resource is around 1GB in size combined, but I have broken each zip file down to about 200MB or under. TPT has a limit of 200MB, so I had to use outside links for this resource due to that.*****
