Product Description
These digital writing journal prompts are to be completed in Google Slides™. Check out THIS BLOG POST about 5 Reasons You Should Use Digital Writing Journals.

Whether you are a 1:1 Classroom or you have access to just a few computers, laptops or Chromebooks™, your students will have a blast working in a paperless atmosphere where they can use all of the digital tools Google Drive has to offer to help them be a more successful writer.

20 expository writing prompts/topics with images are included. Also, a blank writing template along with directions on how to copy and paste the extra writing page are included. Students respond to the prompt by typing in the text boxes that are provided. They will need to use the Explore tool within Google Slides™ to look up information about most of the topics. Instructions with screenshots are included to help students locate the Explore tool.

Digital Writing Journals are wonderful for a variety of reasons. First, teachers don't have to cart a class set of journals back and forth from school to home. Instead, sign into your Google account and read from anywhere, even when you are on the go! Another great reason is that you can comment on students' writing without "marking up" their paper. I like for students to engage in digital writing because they can color code specific words by changing the color of font. Ex. Descriptive words=red, Verbs=green, Vocabulary Words=blue. This is a great visual for the editing process. Students can quickly and easily edit their writing without having to rewrite their entire paper.

Don't have Google™ accounts yet? No problem! Students can still access this presentation if you set it to be "Anyone with the link can edit". They can add text, just not images. You would have to create a separate presentation for each student and supply them with the url.

This product comes as a link in a PDF file. First, make sure you are signed into your Google™ account. Click on the link and you will be prompted to "Make a Copy". Rename the Writing Journal whatever you would like. It will be sent directly to your drive! Disperse to your students via Google Classroom™, Google Drive™ Shared folder, your Learning Platform, etc..
