If your students need practice identifying digraphs, this free clip card activity will make a great literacy center, word work center, or early finisher activity. It includes 16 clip cards focusing on digraphs sh, th, ch, and wh.
Students will look at the picture on each card and use a clothespin to clip the correct spelling written on the side of the card. This set is unique in that in each of the four spelling options available to students, only the digraph sound differs. This means students must sound out each option and really focus on the digraph in order to choose correctly. Clip cards are also a great way to build fine motor skills!
To prolong their use, I recommend laminating these cards or printing them on sturdy cardstock.
You can make this resource self-checking by placing a dot or sticker on the back of the card, or ask students to record their answers on the attached recording sheets. Two recording sheet options are included. One contains handwriting lines, the other does not. Choose the option that best meets the needs of your students. An answer key is also included for your convenience.
