Perfect for word work/ literacy centers or morning work! Great Phonemic Awareness practice!
Students cut out the pictures, sort and paste them on each side under the correct heading.
This book of 18 cut and paste activities compares pictures that start with a digraph to pictures that do not start with a digraph. There are also sorts that compare digraphs to other digraphs.
Pages 1, 4, and 7 compare each digraph to its corresponding consonant only. There are no blends. I also compared each digraph to the other digraphs in order to provide more practice. In addition, on most pages, each column has one long vowel picture (not including the exemplar at the top). I did this in order to build in an additional teaching point.
Teachers can instruct students to “Circle the picture that contains a long vowel in each column” while pointing out that all others are not long sounds (some are short sounds, r controlled, or other). I have indicated the pages that have this feature by circling the page number at the bottom.
