Description
I use this fun interactive smartboard file to teach and reinforce some common digraphs.
I have created three word sorts and three games for digraphs th, sh, and ch.
For digraph th, we sort the words based on which sound the th makes (voiced and not voiced). After that, the students pair up during word work and play the game. The touch the dice and move their game piece. Next they say the word they landed on or get help from their partner. All the words in the game are th words.
For digraphs ch and sh, the lessons are similar. We work together as a whole group and listen for the sounds. Together, the class listens to find out if the sound is at the beginning or end of the word. Students then drag the word to the correct column. After this lesson has been taught, the students practice this skill using the game. Students roll the dice, and move their game piece. Next they say the word or again, get help from their partner.
The kids really enjoy this game and even ask to play during recess.
If you are looking for a technology approach to help kids read digraphs, and want your students engaged on the smartboard or laptop, you will enjoy these lessons!
Good luck and have fun teaching these digraphs on the smartboard!
