This fun dimensional analysis challenge (factor-label method) allows students to work collaboratively to use dimensional analysis in an experimental setting to seek the answer to an experimental question.
Though there is no formal NGSS performance expectation to align to this activity, it hits numerous crosscutting concepts an science and engineering practices. (see lesson plan)
This is a GREAT way for students to not only practice dimensional analysis, but also experimentation. STEPS are provided to easily turn this activity into 100% inquiry. I've used this in my classroom and it is a hit!
MATH TEACHERS!!!! This is a fantastic way to have fun with your students using science to drive a concept home! Trust me...the kids AND the administration will love it.
