A simple and fun sight word game.
This set includes 54 cards: 40 sight word cards (all the words in the pre-primer Dolch sight word list), 2 blank cards (these can be used to add your own words to the game), and 12 BOOM! cards.
All pictures are in colour and there is an instruction page included.
Put the sight word cards that you want to use (you can use all of them, or just the sight words that you have taught in class) and the BOOM! cards in a container (decrease the number of BOOM! cards that you use in accordance with the number of sight word cards that you take out).
Have a student reach in the container and pick a card. If there is a sight word written on the card, they have to read it (they can ask a friend for help). If they read the word correctly, they put it in a pile in the middle of the playing surface (table or floor). Every student takes a turn pulling a card out, until all cards have been read. If they pull out a BOOM! card, they must return all the sight word cards to the container (keep that BOOM! card out of the container).
The game can end in three ways: once all the sight word cards have been read, all the students have had a turn or when a certain amount of time has elapsed.
