Use this article, text dependent questions and fun activity to teach the science and history of fossils. First teach the students about the process of fossilization, then allow them to create a fun booklet. Last go deeper by reading an informative article about the first fossil ever found. Have the students answer the text dependent questions.

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.2.6 Identify the main purpose of a text, including what the author wants to answer, explain, or describe.
