My name is Anna Marie Woloszyn and this is my 15th year teaching. This study guide is a tool for teachers to use as a way to assess individual comprehension while reading a novel. These may be completed individually during whole group readings as a way to assess comprehension, or as a way to assess independent reading. These are also compatible with RTI intervention groups as they provide a scafolding for students by giving them thinking points throughout the novel. The guide asks students to use higher-level thinking skills as they work their way through the book. While using this study guide, they will learn what types of questions to ask themselves while reading a novel. As they use these guides, they will become better independent readers as they become more comfortable with what types of questions to ask while reading in order to best understand a novel.
