This activity for Seesaw has students put an emoji on the correct spelling of a diphthong, variant vowel, or soft c/g word. This differs from the free activities on Seesaw because it specifically targets:
The pages have the following short vowel CVC words:
aw: paw, saw, straw, claw
oi: soil, coin
oy: boy, toy
oo: moon, spoon, broom, pool
ew: drew, dew, grew, blew
oo: foot, wood, book, hook
ou: mouth, count, house, cloud
ow: owl, clown, cow, towel
ear: tear, hear, ear, rear
air: hair, stair, pair, chair
soft c: race, mice
soft g: giraffe, cage
Instructions for set up and use are included. Once the students send their completed activity to you, it is easy to spot check their mastery of the vowels. If your parents are connected to Seesaw, they can their child's progress. To differentiate, students record themselves reading the words. This works for a whole-class activity or a word center activity.
