This is a 23 slide Power Point Show about separation of words into syllables and how letters combine together (diptongos, triptongos , hiatos) for correct pronunciation and spelling. It will also help students to learn when a word may need an orthographic accent or not. Students will be able to distinguish similarities and differences among phonetics of Spanish and those in other languages and the comprehension of the basic sound patterns to develop insight into the nature of the Spanish language. Pictures and examples illustrate the explanations and will capture students’ attention while the teacher informs students on the lesson. The teacher can control the slides as he/she progresses through the presentation. A quiz is presented at the end with the corresponding answer key. This presentation could be used for two classes of 50 minutes or as a review of concepts before evaluation.
