This resource is for use after students have read Edgar Allan Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado." Students act as directors for a film adaptation of the story and conduct close reading to determine choices for lighting, costume, set design, and prop choices they would make to accurately establish the story's mood. The primary focus of the project is to reinforce the understanding of mood and sensory details and how those contribute to setting and vice versa. Students also gain some practice in using MLA citation as it would be written in-text with the author's last name followed by the page number. Though not a major focus of the project, it reinforces proper usage.
