This is a lesson about jobs, specifically jobs that are dangerous, dirty, or dreamy. The first part of the lesson is devoted to an understanding of how to read big numbers. The next segment tests that ability by applying it to the salaries of 10 very unusual professions. I have a random student from the class convert each salary from longhand to numeric on the board before continuing the lesson. I apologize that the salaries in the PPT are in Chinese RMB, but that is easy enough to fix. Dividing by 6 will get you into the right neighborhood for US dollars. The lesson wraps up with a little Would You Rather
discussion game about what preferences the students have in their future endeavors. If you found this lesson useful, be sure to check out some of the others at ESL In Asia
. Good luck!
