Hand out this foldable pamphlet to parents, teachers…anyone who would like a quick refresher on behavioral strategies.
The four behaviors listed are based on the teachings of Rudolf Dreikurs. If we consider how a child's behaviors make US feel (angry, annoyed, hurt, or discouraged) we can classify the behaviors (power, attention, revenge, and inadequacy). Understanding what the child is getting from his/her behavior is the first step in developing effective interventions and strategies.
This pamphlet is useful for parents (and for teachers) who are looking for alternatives to punishment.
This foldable pamphlet is made from standard 8½ x11 paper. When folded, the finished pamphlet measures 3x6 inches. When the pamphlet is opened, the reader finds four flaps that identify each of the four behaviors. When each flap is opened, there are my suggestions on what to do for a child who displays the behavior.
