“Discovering BAG” is my new detective-themed BAG Recorder game, an interactive game that assesses student learning about recorder basics while keeping them engaged in learning! This is my POWERPOINT VERSION. To find my Smart Notebook Version, click here: Discovering BAG - Recorder Game - Smart Notebook Version
This game assesses all students’ understanding of reading BAG pitches on the music staff, deciphering the fingerings for BAG, and testing their listening skills on 3-note melody patterns while avoiding a written test.
This game is organized in 3 levels. Level 1 is very simple, asking students to identify the pitches BAG on the music staff. Level 2 asks students to name the fingerings for each given pitch. Level 3 gives a pitch on the staff, and students have to write both the pitch name and fingering to get the correct answer.
This game is very simple to operate with clear instructions throughout. I use this game to reinforce these three pitches before I start Recorder Karate. Your kids will especially like the “invisible ink” and the magnifying glass that reveals the answers. This lesson would be most appropriate and enjoyable for 2nd to 4th grade but could be used for any grade if you dare play recorders with the littler ones!
I hope you enjoy this fun, interactive game!
