Discovering Electric Circuits written by a 15 year teacher and professional in engineering and physics. Students are led through a series of discovery experiments using light bulbs and a simple power supply (or battery). This lab is written for students with no experience in electricity and will lead them to a deep conceptual understanding of how electricity works. This experience will give students great intuition in electricity that will serve them well in future work. This lab has been proven through research to increase student understanding and problem solving skills. No math is required. Only simple light bulbs, a few resistors, alligator clips and a power supply or 12V battery is required. This Lab is intended for first year physics students. No math required. It can also be used in middle school.
