I call this Power Point game Mystery Box. My students absolutely LOVE it!
Basically, it is a series of sentences in English (all relating to vocabulary and grammar from. Unit 2) that students need to translate into French. Students are in teams and they write their sentence on a whiteboard.
Here is how it works:
1. When I put the sentence up, teams race to translate it on their whiteboard (students rotate to write within their team)
2. First team who is correct gets control of "the mystery box" (which is simply the next slide on the document). They can decide to keep it and open it or give it to another team of their choice. The box may have a reward (ie: 100 points), a punishment (i.e: -100 points), or a goofy challenge (i.e: first team to sing a Justin Bieber song gets 100 pts/ team that can hold their breath longest wins 50 pts, best dance wins 200 pts...)
3. At the end of the game, the team with the highest score wins
This is a super fun game because unlike many other games, you can never know who is going to win or lose. It keeps students engaged the whole time and believe me, they really get to practice the material! I use it as a review game before a test.
