This is a short activity my students complete before we discuss properties of metals. It draws on prior knowledge of common metallic elements.
Students work with a partner and have 12 minutes to match the answer cards with the clues. They can use their Periodic Table as they work. When they think they have matched up the clues and answers correctly they record their answers on the answer sheet.
I then refer back to this activity as we discuss properties of metals.
*Prior to this activity, students color coded their own copy the Periodic Table of Elements to represent metals, nonmetals and metalloids. We then learned about parts of the atom and how to read the Periodic Table.
