This has been used as a culminating project/review and summarizing activity after students have learned about plate boundaries, earthquakes, and volcanoes. Students use a bathymetric map of the world to "see" the plate boundaries. Boundaries are made more prominent through the plotting of location of many earthquakes and volcanoes. The volcano and earthquake coordinates provided can be changed. The map with the grid lines is enlarged for student use onto 11x17 size paper using a photocopy machine to zoom the original 8.5x11 to this standard size. Large grayscale copies are fine for students as long as they have the 8.5x11 color version nearby for reference and clarity. Colored pencils are recommended. Students should work in partners.
