This lesson pack can be used in whole or in part to teach about the history of the Tudor lineage of royalty. These materials were developed for use by history teachers with students in grades 4, 5, or 6. They can be used to help expand any unit on medieval history or British history.
The main aim of the pack is to give some basic information about Tudor kings and queens with some interesting activities to help bring the subject matter to life. Each of the five lessons about a monarch will take around 30 minutes to complete.
Each lesson begins with a short article giving basic information about a Tudor king or queen’s life, personality, and rule. This information can be supplemented by classroom teaching or a textbook. It can also be used on its own to give students a very general overview of this period of history. After each article, there is a one-page multiple choice quiz that checks comprehension. There is a fun activity at the end of each lesson. These activities can be done by students alone or in groups.
The lesson pack also includes four sheets of cards with names of Tudors and their pictures. The final pages include a board game sheet with quiz cards. The board game is meant to be a fun way for students to consolidate their factual knowledge about the Tudors after completing all the lessons in this pack.
The activities in the pack are self-explanatory and require almost no preparation or instruction time for the teacher to use in their class. A notes section at the beginning of the pack gives detailed instructions on how to use the pack with different ideas to help introduce the activities. An answer key for all quizzes and games is also provided.
