Discreet Trial Training is a method of teaching used specifically for students with Autism. It works well using an ABC (antecedent, behavior, consequence) method of direct teaching. This form is designed to help break objectives down into smaller, more manageable chunks. Although the teaching method initially behind this form was designed for students with Autism, I find it helpful to use with students at a variety of skills levels. It documents if the student was able to successfully complete skill independently or with specific prompting and works well to document skills with high repetition within a session.
