Discrete Trial Learning KIt: Letters

This kit is designed to include all the materials needed to teach matching, sorting, receptive and expressive identification of ten letters to your students using discrete trial training. In this kit, you will find 260 flashcards that can be used for matching, sorting, receptive and expressive identification of ten different letters, as well as teaching instructions, data sheets and graphs. This kit has a number of exemplars of each letter to ensure generalization when teaching this skill.

This kit addresses the following goals in the Hawaii Early Learning Profile:
#1.242 – Names capital and lower case letters when shown printed letters
#1.257 – Says the sound a letter makes when shown the letter.
#1.258 – Matches (visually) identical letters in a group of different letters.

The teaching sessions progress from simple materials, with less distractors, to more distractors, ie. a black letter to a coloured letter. The teaching instruction sheets in this packet will guide you through the teaching process. If a student has already mastered the first phase of teaching, start teaching at the next level.
