Discrete trial training is a research-based direct instruction that helps student's with autism learn new skills through repetition and breaking the skill down into small parts. This unit teaches students to identify simple fractions through discrete trial training, guided practice, and independent practice. The instructor is guided through 5 teaching sequences to help students master identifying the whole, half, and quarter.

This unit is in alignment with Virginia SOL standards: K.5, 1.4a, 1.4b

and Virginia ASOL standards: 3M-NSCE 7- student will differentiate between whole, half, and fourth

The unit includes:
