Included in this file is a discriminant discovery activity. Students are given cards with quadratic equations on them. They are to sort the cards into three piles: those with two real solutions, one real solution, and two complex solutions. While sorting, they are trying to find a shortcut to put them in piles, rather than completely solving for x using the quadratic formula.
The second file in this is a discriminant discovery activity. Students use a graphing utility to graph the given quadratic and record what they notice about the number of x-intercepts and the formula b^2-4ac.
The third file in this is a foldable where students summarize their thoughts in a graphic organizer about the discriminant.
