Product Description

Motivate your students towards active, engaging discussion with these open-ended discussion questions! This packet contains three questions per chapter for Watt Key's middle-grade novel "Deep Water." The discussion questions are purposely open-ended and subject to opinion to encourage debate and discussion in your classroom. Included are ideas for structuring a class discussion. In addition, these questions are re-organized onto printable handouts for students, so that they can be used for homework, comprehension checks, mini-essay prompts, or even as group preparation for discussion.

This packet also contains essay and creative writing prompts. All topics relate directly to elements of "Deep Water," and many are also subject to opinion to encourage students to support their initial statements. Many of these ask the student to analyze and compare characters and their growth throughout the story. There are also several creative writing prompts which ask students to write letters, scripts, etc. These are intended to allow students to be creative while thinking critically about the story. Some can be worked on while the story is still being read, while others are better suited as an end project and could also be used as an assessment tool.

Please ask any and all questions before purchasing. I answer as promptly as possible.
