Gennifer Choldenko's historical fiction novel "Chasing Secrets" takes a hard look at life in San Francisco during the Gilded Age from the perspective of thirteen-year-old Lizzie Kennedy. This product contains discussion questions sorted by chapter to encourage conversation not only about each chapter's contents, but also about the way that the culture during this time period differs from life in modern America.
This packet also contains printable, open-ended essay questions that are designed to encourage students to think critically and to explain their answers. These, too, are labelled by chapter, and there are additional, more general questions included at the end. These questions would make excellent daily journaling prompts, summary unit projects, or as assessment checkpoints while reading.
Please ask any and all questions before purchasing. I answer as promptly as possible.
