Designed to go with my Mickey's Magic Number sheet and song, these bonus problems are for your students who need an extra math challenge. What makes these products higher order thinking problems is the students aren't just adding or subtracting like puppets; they have to creatively use their number sense to solve these problems! On each bonus problem, the Mickey head outline represents the 'magic number,' or the Number of the Day (or a number of your choice). These problems are designed for reuse throughout the year, if desired. In my classroom, I have these problems in plastic protector sheets, and I let students choose which bonus problem they'd like to solve- they can work by themselves or with a partner if they finish an assignment early. I let students share their thinking with the class and expect them to show their work in their math journal. This can be used as tool for those who have finished their work, or as a math center for your students who want to challenge themselves. It is colorful and a fun challenge! The problems deal with comparing numbers, length and distance, adding, algebraic thinking, telling time, and putting things into groups (multiplication/division concepts.) This packet includes a cover!
