What is included in this geography project?
Print a pennant for each student which should include each of the 64 parishes, that asks the student to use simple research skills to label the state parish, color in the parish, label the parish seat accurately, draw and color a historical feature from that parish, and briefly synthesize information about the parish in order to write what each parish is known for.
A sample pennant (East Baton Rouge) is also included that you may choose to use in order to show students how a completed pennant should look, including neatness, accuracy, and completeness.
How can I use this geography project?
Each student can be assigned a parish other than the one they currently live in to research and complete. The pennant can be used as a parish report when reporting back to their classmates.
A sample banner is included for student reference.
When the class is finished, they can be hung on a wall or from the ceiling using string or ribbon to create a banner effect. Simply fold back the tabs at the top of each pennant over the string and tape or glue in place. It’s as easy as that!
It is a great geography research tool at the beginning of the year
