Engage your students in a deep analysis of different news types/sources as they prepare to become informed and engaged citizens. This project asks students to seek out samples of the news as found in different types of media: print; television; and the Internet. Using an analysis guide for each type, students compare multiple samples (ex. local v. national newspaper) in an effort to identify what information is needed for an engage citizen and what source best delivers such information. A series of reflection questions provide students the opportunity to holistically consider the information they have collected.
