I use this foldable to explore how to find the distance between two points with my 8th graders. In 8th grade, there is more of a focus on finding distance using Pythagorean Theorem, instead of the formal Distance Formula. This graphic organizer folds up into a 6 page booklet. Students will start by discussing the Pythagorean Theorem, finding the distance between two points with a line segment, plotting points and then finding the distance, and finally finding the distance without using a graph. This should help build up the understanding of where the distance formula comes from before they reach Geometry.
