Product Description

A specially designed website and response sheets provide hours of frog-themed digital activities for fourth or fifth graders. You can use it for a day of distance learning. Online, kids interact with text, images, and videos. Then they complete related tasks.

Informational Text – A one-page text explains similarities and differences of frogs and toads. They consider six statements and choose which are true. Then they categorize information from the text on a table.

Language – Two slideshows explain similes and metaphors. Students may complete two open-ended practice sheets and/or find figurative language in a fairy tale.

Listening – A video shows how a frog catches and eats its prey. Students explain how spit and eyeballs help these amphibians eat.

Literature – After reading a fairy tale, kids select the character trait that best describes the princess. Then they support their choice with evidence from the text.

Math – A video discusses sizes of different species. Students access the Ruler Game and practice measuring to the nearest eighth of an inch online. Then they measure illustrations of tadpoles at various stages of development to the nearest eighth of an inch and millimeter. The Google version of this activity comes with an online ruler that students can manipulate to measure the pictures.

Science – A video chronicles development from eggs to tadpoles to adults over the course of seven weeks. Kids take notes to explain what happens each week.

Camouflage Project – A video shows examples of camouflage. Students color the shape of a frog to blend in with one area of the classroom. Then they tape it to that “habitat” and see if others can spot it.

Each student page comes in two formats – printable PDF or paperless Google Slides. Lesson plans and answers are also included.

Enjoy!
