Description
Have you ever stopped to really reflect on the books you've read over the course of a calendar or school year? It can lead to greater insights about ourselves as readers, to a realization that we've accomplished more than we know. and to a heightened sense of motivation for reading. That's the purpose of this reader reflection activity.
Use this PDF and Google Slides resource with middle or high school students around the New Year or at the end of a school year - in person or with distance learning. Help them to reflect on books they have read and set new reading goals. If you confer with students individually and in small groups, you'll also be able to lead them toward greater insights about themselves as readers. What types of books do they tend to read? What do the books on their list have in common? What other books might you recommend to them?
After completing the reader reflection activity, students can discuss the books they've read, informally or formally making book recommendations to peers. Extension ideas are included!
This reader reflection activity works well with distance learning! To access the digital resource, click on the link in the PDF, and make a copy to add it to your Google Drive.
